Future Man Renewed for Third and Final Season at Hulu

Hulu has renewed “Future Man” for a third season, which will also be the show’s last.

The final season will consist of just eight episodes, while the first two were both 13. The series is led by “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson as a janitor and world-ranked gamer who is tasked with preventing the extinction of humanity after mysterious visitors from the future proclaim him the key to defeating the imminent super-race invasion.

It also stars Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson. It was created, written, and executive produced by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir and executive produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Matt Tolmach, James Weaver and Ben Karlin.

This marks the second time in as many days that a Rogen-Goldberg show has set its final season. On Monday, it was announced that the AMC series “Preacher,” which Rogen and Goldberg developed for television along with Sam Catlin, would end after its upcoming fourth season. The impending end of both shows comes after it was announced that Rogan and Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures would move from their longtime home at Sony to Lionsgate.

Point Grey’s other TV projects currently include the upcoming Amazon superhero series “The Boys” and the Showtime series “Black Monday,” which aired its first season finale on March 31.

Josh Hutcherson Dunks On ‘Overwatch’ Console Players

Josh Hutcherson Dunks On ‘Overwatch’ Console Players

If you’re a console player, you’ll know PC gamers love dunking on you. They just can’t help it. It’s a hereditary thing.

That said, the disrespect has never been as great as it was this Thursday during an Overwatch League stream when Hunger Games and Polar Express actor Josh Hutcherson capitalized an easy opportunity to roast console Overwatch players.

If you follow Hutcherson, you’ll know he’s a pretty big Overwatch fan, like many of us. And during a recent Overwatch League Stream, he was invited on stage to talk about the game, but rather than reveal who his main is or who he is rooting for in Overwatch League, he decided to tap into the oldest war known to man: PC overlords vs console peasants.

More specfically, during halftime of the Los Angeles Valiant and Philadelphia Fusion match on Thursday, host Malik Forte at one point asked Hutcherson who on stage, including Forte, would be able to save the world on the back of their video game skill.

“Well… you play console,” said Hutcherson savagely. Of course this prompted the crowd to erupt in laughter and variant noises that translate to “oh damn.” “You like tickling the sticks,” Hutcherson then added. Of course, Forte was caught off guard by the playful dunk as much as the crowd was.

Overwatch is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. At the moment of publishing, there’s been no word of a Nintendo Switch port, which looks very unlikely at this point, even if it hasn’t been completely ruled out yet.

Berlin: Film Mode Strikes Deals on ‘Crypto,’ ‘Burn’ (Exclusive)

Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment has landed a number of deals on its thrillers Crypto and Burn.

Crypto stars Beau Knapp (Seven SecondsThe Nice Guys), Alexis Bledel (The Handmaid’s TaleGilmore Girls), Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight), Luke Hemsworth (Westworld), Jeremie Harris (Legion) and Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men). The film, directed by John Stalberg, Jr., was written by Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio, based on an original story by Jeffrey Ingber, and produced by Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman, along with David Frigerio.

The film — which had already sold to Grindstone for the U.S. — added Feel Good Entertainment for Greece, Eagle Films for the Middle East and Fox Asia for Pan Asia.

Burn, meanwhile, marks the feature debut for writer-director Mike Gan and stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey (52 TuesdaysHotel Mumbai), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Suki Waterhouse (Assassination NationBad Batch).

The pic sold to Blue Swan Media for Italy, Broadmedia Studios for Japan, Cascade Films for CIS, Eagle Films for the Middle East and Fox Asia for Pan Asia.

“It’s been a privilege to work so closely with the team at Yale on Crypto and Burn,” said Epstein. “The response from the marketplace on both titles has been overwhelming. This reinforces that audiences still crave good filmmaking and great cast and we are well positioned to deliver just that. We are fielding additional offers from buyers who have been thrilled with the footage they’ve seen so far.”

Josh at the On the Record in Las Vegas

Josh attended the opening of On the Record in Las Vegas. On the Record features a number of the cool kitschy hallmarks for which the Houstons are known, including a speakeasy-style entrance, a secret room known as the Vinyl Parlor — where mixologists from coast-to-coast serve as “Bartenders-in-Residence” concocting song-inspired cocktails — and three karaoke rooms which have fast become the spot for stars, including Jeremy Renner and Dave Grohl, to hang out and cut loose.

The Hunger Games’ Hutcherson also showed up, despite being in a cast. Earlier in the evening (along with Arquette, Hirsch and Wesley), he joined Park MGM players at the resort’s Juniper Cocktail Lounge for the NoMad 500 Celebrity Poker Invitational, and then hit the MGM Grand Garden Arena for the WBA world welterweight title fight.

“Every time I go out [in L.A.], I go to [the Houstons’ places]. I like Madame Siam and Break Room 86,” said Hutcherson. “[On the Record reminds] me of that. The Rolls Royce DJ booth is amazing. The double-decker bus [on the patio is] crazy. The sound is really good. What’s crazy to me is you can go from one room to the next and hear [the music] distinctly.”
